At MGREP, our scholars (MGREPers) don’t just gain world-class academic knowledge — they also immerse themselves in a vibrant socio-cultural environment that enriches their personal growth and shapes lifelong experiences.

MGREPers connect with diverse social groups and take part in campus-wide events, from Homecoming, concerts, festivals, movie screenings, dance performances, and comedy nights, to enjoying multicultural cuisines and mingling with local and international students at the Anthill Pub & Grille or relaxing in the sunshine at Aldrich Park.

To stay healthy in both mind and body, our members exercise at the Anteater Recreation Center, follow UCI Anteater sports teams, and take advantage of Southern California’s ideal setting for water sports.

MGREP students also embrace social responsibility, giving back to their communities in Mexico while representing the program’s values abroad. With UCI located in the heart of the California Riviera, they enjoy a unique quality of life where interactions with nature, fresh air, and opportunities for recreation support a balanced lifestyle.

UCI, located in the pristine zone of the California Riviera offers a perfect setting for practicing water sports such as: stand up paddling boarding, kayaking, surfing, rowing, and many others.
Transmitting Mexican traditions abroad, the most important festivities in Mexico are celebrated as well at UCI, where the Mexican folklore is splendidly exposed.
A day prior to the Day of the Dead, US celebrates its Halloween. As part of our cultural immersion, MGREP fellows celebrate American holidays, such as, Halloween and Thanksgiving Day.
The end of the year gives MGREP fellows the occasion to strengthen friendships in a warm and cordial atmosphere, closing a year of hard work and anticipating new beginnings.
