BACKGROUND

Beginning September 2016, the Mexico Graduate Research and Education Program was founded at the University of California, Irvine. Positioning UCI as a desirable destination for research collaboration and PhD studies with an interdisciplinary approach in STEM areas of work. Since then, MGREP has actively pursuing institutional engagements between UCI and Mexico institutions, supporting faculty and students’ scientific mobility, sustaining binational dialog through colloquia to disseminate knowledge, foster collaboration, and stimulate forward thinking STEM academic and research work.

MISSION

Be the dedicated institutional liaison between the University of California, Irvine and the Mexico institutions of higher education to strengthen UCI-Mexico collaborations and form the binational mind set in academic and research knowledge in areas of STEM.

OUR COMMITMENT

  1. Represent the international positioning, competence, and advancement of UCI and Mexico scientific talent in STEM areas of work.
  2. Attract, prepare, promote the internationalization of UCI and Mexico’s scientific capacity.
  3. Enable and empower Mexico scientific work to contribute to the solution of binational concerns and priorities.
  4. Support the multidisciplinary convergence of latest knowledge and resources for academic and research scientific institutional advancement.
  5. Open opportunities for PhD formation in engineering areas, such as but not limited to material science, biomedical, aerospace, environmental, electrical and computer science.
  6. Pursue funding for Call for proposals, to encourage UCI and Mexico researchers to submit projects of binational relevance and advance research collaborations.
